Hi. I beleive the positional information got garblled for this one at some point. More likely this is located a full degree to the south (ie 52 12.000 126 56.000). I got a little excited, but after investigating a bit that is my conclusion.

Yes possibly, These coords came from a government type document and it appeared they were approximate coords by the look of the ".000" My hopes is that someone who has been to these springs with a GPS will post the accurate coordinates. I have tried twittering for more info a while bak. I should try again, see what comes of it.

Halcyon Hot Springs is situated on the eastern shores of the magnificent Upper Arrow Lakes in central British Columbia. The Arrow Lakes run from Revelstoke in the north, south to Castlegar and are the main drainage system for an area known as the West Kootenays. Halcyon Hot Springs is 68 km south of Revelstoke, and approximately 475 km from Calgary. On the southern approach, Halcyon Hot Springs is 32 km north of Nakusp, 280 km from Kelowna, 785 km from Vancouver and 425 km from Spokane. The area is accessed in the north by the Upper Arrow Lake Ferry, which travels between Shelter Bay and Galena Bay connecting Highway 23. Highway 6 in the south is connected by the Lower Arrow Lake ferry crossing at Needles.Communities along the routes include Slocan, Nakusp, the Sandon Ghost town and Shelter Bay.

The resort of Halcyon has great pools, etc to stay in during your visit, the views are awesome. It offers a very good RV campsite (have stayed there on 3 occasions). From Halcyon you can easily reach the remote HS's located a short distance south along the Lower Halfway, and St Leon rivers. Further south you can enjoy the springs at Nakusp.

Access is East off Highway 93/95 at the Whiteswan Provincial Park exit (located 22 km North of Skookumchuck or 8 km South of Canal Flats). Take the Whiteswan Forestry Road up to the hotsprings. It is a good condition gravel logging road that is accessible during the summer season with any vehicle. It is a 17 km drive up the road and be aware of the narrow winding section climbing up the Lussier gorge towards the end of the drive. There is a parking lot at the top with a change room/toilet and then a short walk down to the springs. (Note that there is camping a bit further up the road).

Hi all of those out there that absolutly love the wild hotsprings and shake their fists at the commercial pools who steal the water.
I have been going to Lussier for tons of years. Started off when I couldn't even talk or walk and now we drive there for weekend get aways. These hotsprings are absolutely beautiful, hot, nice to camp by (if you dont like paying for campsites and perfer to build your own fire else where). However they are starting to get over populated. More and more "outsiders" aka city people from Alberta know and love these hotsprings. The locals have always been going there and its always an adventure meeting someone new from BC.
So if you're the type that likes privacy, I would suggest checking out these hotsprings but finding a favorite one somewhere else.

I'm planning kayak trip to Weewanie / bishop bay hot springs this summer, from Kitimat. Has anyone done this previously? I've found some people talking about how good the area is, but few, if any trip reports of what conditions are like. I've read that the area can be windy, but I don't know much about currents/tidal conditions.
Any tips?

'Octopus Creek Hot Springs (49°C / 120°F) are located off Hwy. #6 south of Fauquier. They are hard to find and require some hiking and bushwhacking up the creek.' (http://www.adventurerockies.com/hotsprings.htm Link is dead)

Approx. From Canadian Cordillera1 Data - I viewed the waypoint coordinates with my Garmin MapSource and there is a logging road (at N49 52.264 W118 04.809) that almost leads right to the Hot Spring coordinates provided. Turn off hwy6 between Lumby and Nakusp. I have never been there but it sounds like undiveloped wild area according to Hotsprings of Western Canada by Jim McDonald. -GTL-

My dad used to visit these HS many years ago when he was prospecting in the area. He still remembers enjoying a warm dip after a hard days digging in the muck!

I myself have not yet visited these springs. Can anyone comment on this site? What are the springs like, HOT, Warm, or Brrrrr! Worth a visit, or not?

Scenic Hot Springs is a natural hot spring located on a private property in-holding within the Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest. It is located approximately six miles southwest of Stevens Pass and twelve miles east of Skykomish, WA . . . along the Hwy 2 corridor. The springs, themselves, are a mile and a half hike from the highway.

During the 90s the springs were heavily developed with elaborate pools (four of them) and deckwork on the steep, forested slopes by a group of people later coming to call themselves the "Friends of Scenic Hot Springs". All this construction was done without the explicit knowledge or consent of the absentee property owner (or so they say . . . there is some evidence that the owner simply acquiesced and took advantage to soak there himself when he was in town). During the later years of the 90's Scenic became very popular with the urbane set (mainly because it was so easy to reach). What followed the huge numbers of visitors were assaults, attempted rapes, binge drinking drug use, car vandalism, and a number of high-profile search and rescue missions to locate and save lost hikers who were too incapacitated to know where they were going. The King County Sheriff's Department was making an average of two emergency calls to Scenic Hot Springs every day.

In October of 2001 King County had had enough. The construction on the sensitive wetlands and steep slopes of the mountain was done with no reviews or permits. The county issued a Code Enforcement Action to the property owner, who promptly declared that he had no knowledge that such illegal activity was taking place on his property. He quickly agreed to post the property. The next day, deputies raided the hot springs and threatened everyone there with criminal trespass arrest if they did not leave promptly and stay away. A few days later, deputies again returned with chainsaws and sledgehammers. They destroyed the beautiful deckwork and pools. Only the Monster Pool survived their frenzy simply because that pool was constructed of 65 tons of concrete firmly anchored into the bedrock of the slope. The destruction and debris sat fallow on those slopes for the next few years with only a few diehard visitors sneaking in under the radar.
My friend and probably the foremost expert on natural hot springs in North America, Mike Sato, bought the property in 2004 with the understanding and expectation to the former owner that the springs would eventually be reopened to the public. I have been working with Mike ever since to navigate the complicated and expensive bureaucratic maze ever since. We are getting close. Eventually Mike hopes to model Scenic somewhat after Meager Creek . . . natural stone-work pools in natural surroundings, the minimum of facilities (changing rooms, latrine) and a caretaker to keep activities under control. There will eventually be a modest charge for the use of the hot springs. Scenic will remain a clothing-optional place.

As of this writing, Scenic is closed to public access . . . that is necessary to show the county we can control access and stop illegal activities. One pool remains and provides a stellar soak. The debris as been removed from the slopes ans staged for disposal. Access at this moment is by invitation only . . . and generally to those who participate in cleanup activities. Unfortunately we are beginning to see similar closures here in BC. Places like St Leon, Ram Creek, etc are slowly feeling the pressures of abuse by a select group of people.

Scenic is in the best possible hands it could be in. I wish all of our hot springs had guardians like you guys.
Here in Idaho (man do I get sick of starting sentences that way), we just lost Molly's Tubs and potentially Rocky Canyon. In both cases, the forest service has elected to restore the springs to more natural conditions due to continued abuse.
It's always a tough call. I think both instances can have positive outcomes: restoring both to more natural settings sounds pretty good to me, as long as they don't destroy the environment in the process. The tubs at Molly's were a mess, would often get smashed up or dilapidated and left to rot. Massive mortar improvements at Rocky has garnered attention from young ORVers and hunters that like to party hard.
However, some good news here, Skinnydipper's 'Keepers' have managed to keep the springs open, somewhat safe and maintained. Here, Keepers continuously recruit new Keepers - swelling their numbers. However, this creates a group w/o balance.... some new recruits have been allegedly pushing the limits.

I still remember visiting these HS years ago during the winter.
Was skiing at Lake Louise and Sunshine with some friends in -45C temps (w/o the wind chill !). After freezing our butts off and finding a dead battery in the car (so cold), we finally made it back to Banff where we warmed up in the pool. Dewar Hot Springs
One of the special features of the park is the Dewar Creek hot springs. Water flowing through fractures into the substrate is heated to temperatures above 100 C or boiling point. It rises to the surface carrying many minerals in solution especially calcium, magnesium and sulphur compounds. Hot water at the surface vents is above 80 C, too hot for bathing. Visitors to the springs have created a variety of pools over the years using both natural and man made materials. All except one small pool have been removed. BC Parks will continue to remove any new construction and request your cooperation. The intrinsic value of the springs for wildlife use far outweighs modification of the springs for recreational bathing. Far better, more accessible opportunities for hot spring soaking exist at other locations in the Kootenay’s.
The minerals brought to the surface by the hot mineral springs form critical licks for five species of ungulates: elk, goat, white tail deer, mule deer, and moose providing them with high concentrations of minerals and nutrients during May through July, the birthing seasons. Unfortunately increased human visitation to the springs has displaced many of these animals and as a result wildlife populations in the upper Dewar have decreased.
A number of rare vascular plants grow in the side hill bog immediately above the springs: Western St. John’s-wort, a yellowish orange flowered herb, Slender muhlenbergia, a small grass that occurs in dense mats close to the hot springs vents and Hot–springs Panicum another grass unique to hot springs ecosystems.
A red-listed damselfly Argia vivida commonly known as the ‘Vivid Dancer’ has been identified at Dewar hot springs. Blue in colour it is sometimes seen clinging to the rubble and boulders near the hot-springs.
The Engelmann spruce-subalpine fir (ESSF) zone around the springs is dominated by Engelmann Spruce and sub-alpine fir. False azlea, white-flowed rhododendron and huckleberry are common.
Dewar hot springs and adjacent Bugle Basin area are an intricate and interdependent ecosystem. Just as ungulates depend on the hot spring licks for nutrients predators such as grizzly bear, wolves and wolverine depend on productive ungulate populations.
This fragile and diverse area can be visited using an old outfitting trail. Drive west on the St. Mary’s forest service road 47 kilometers to the junction of the West Fork St. Mary’s road and the Dewar Creek road. Bear right and follow the Dewar Creek road to the end at the 27 km. There is a trail registry located at the beginning of the trail. After crossing Wesley Creek continue for about 1.5 hours till you drop down by the creek. If on horse the trail will soon cross the creek. If on foot scramble up onto the east bank and continue along a rough hiking trail that will rejoin the old outfitting trail, continue to the springs. About 3-4 hours total time.
At the springs the trail contours above the springs area and continues another .5 km to Bugle Basin, a huge slide area, where hiker camping is allowed. There is an established horse camping area across the creek to the west, follow the trail that crosses the Dewar Creek immediately after emerging from the forest. Follow up the left side of Bugle Basin about .5 km then follow the trail back into the hidden meadow where an established horse camp is located. Please do not horse camp on the east side of Bugle Basin.
Past visitors have trampled the side hill area above the springs and destroyed rare habitat. In an effort to allow these areas to regenerate do not camp above the springs or trample the bog area. To traverse the hot springs use the horse trail above the bogs or the rocks along the creek.
Please practice no impact camping and use established fire-rings.

Saint Leon Hot Springs From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Saint Leon Hot Springs is a hot spring and former resort community located near the head of Upper Arrow Lake in the Columbia Country-West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, Canada. The townsite also was referred to by the simplified form of the name, St. Leon. The townsite was first settled by Michael M. Grady of Revelstoke with the construction of a hotel in 1894, soon replaced by a larger and nicer establishment in 1901. In the opening year of World War I, Grady closed the hotel and severed its pipeline from the springs due to bankruptcy from a collapse in the tourist trade. Revelstoke residents begged him to begin a townsite where they could partake of the springs directly, which he did in 1918, with 10 cottages built shortly thereafter by new residents while others built more later on.[1][2] The name St. Leon is stated by the Akriggs in their work on British Columbia placenames that an early hunter and trapper in the area named it after St.-Pol-de-Leon, Finistère, France, where he had relatives. Hi all.
If you go to these springs, be aware that there have been reports of the springs being closed. Apparently signs have been set up telling people to keep out. Whether this is true (private property) or the work of a few that would keep the springs to themselves, I don't know. It sounds like there may be a few sources that have been developed, so the idea of some being private may hold truth. If you do go, remember to respect any privacy issues, pack out your trash, and anything extra you can carry. These springs are a treasure that needs to be respected for all generations.
The area was logged near the GPS coords noted here. Be careful as logging operations could still be in effect. Give the trucks the right of way, or you will lose ! OUCH...

I was planning on skiing in but according to Nakusp Visitor Info it's now closed to the public. It was purchased months ago and apparently people where getting a little too rowdy for their liking. It may re-open one day. Cheers.

Tried to find these springs this past summer (2008). Didn't locate the source, but apparently was in the right area. I've attached a Google Earth kmz showing the route taken, also attached a MapSource file showing the area.

If anyone can confirm or clarify these springs, please let me know. Will try again to locate them next summer...

This is the info someone sent me for these springs years ago. It appears the coordinates I have are approximate and 22kms North of your Waterfall waypoint on your GDB file. This may not help but with other members input we might be able to narrow it down.

In Nakusp (in southeastern BC on RT 6) ask locally (at the Chamber of Commerce) for directions to Halfway River Hot Springs. It is generally: RT 23 north for about an hour then turn and go about 7 miles on a dirt road. (No better directions.)

A 5.7 km hike on Kelowna's Southern slopes.
1. If you have been on the Angel Springs trail before:

If you have been on the Angel Springs trail before; looking for these warm-springs, but having no clue what to expect, the Angel Springs is just a section of KLO creek where hydrothermal activity heats the water to 29 degrees Celcius at the warmest. The springs do not occur in one specific area but several parts of the creek in the area of the trail that are warmed by seeps of hot water from inside the earth. Water from the springs is found in a small ravine and is identified by its bright orange colour. The colour of the water comes from algal growth and some iron-bearing minerals.

2. If you have never been on the trail, but would like to visit the springs:

This is a very nice hike, and is not too terribly long, although wet conditions due to run off in the spring can make the hike very long and slightly unenjoyable. To get to the springs you follow June Springs Rd untill it changes into a dirt road, Little White Forest Service Road, follow this until you get to a flat area where you could park, this is where the trail starts. (This parking area also provided a place for a little bit of pellet gun target practice due to a nice embankment that stops all pellets.) The cordinates of the trail head are: 49 (degrees) 48’31.01’’N 119 (degrees) 22’28.69’’W and the elevation is approximately 3129 feet. I believe you can follow the trail as a loop. Have fun!

Located 14km NW of Bob Quinn Lake, British Columbia

We paddled that section of river this summer (Class V above the hot springs). I'm not sure what the preferred access is. It looks like there is a flagged heli-pad on one of the gravel islands a few hundred metres downstream. The Iskut is fast and cold and I wouldn't want to swim across and a ford would not be feasible Perhaps access is best in winter?

As for the springs themselves at most water levels there isn't much. There are some rock formations and a shallow (4 inches) extremely hot (too hot) pool in the rock formations. Apparently at low water you can dig out a pool just below the rock formations and mix in some river water. When we were there the river was too high (September).

Highway 6, take the east Wilson creek road just south of the Rosebery park sign. Follow the excellent
gravel road to Little Wilson Lake Forest Service campground., about 33 km from the highway. You can
also reach this point by a rougher road from Nakusp; 6.3 km. south of Nakusp on Highway 6, take the
Wilson Lake turnoff. Follow the rough road for about 18km to the campsite. Pick up a forest service
map in Nakusp to navigate this complex of roads. The springs are on the south side of the valley, about 1
km east of Little Wilson Lake. The best approach might be to hike the overgrown road along the south
side of Little Wilson Lake: This road starts about 2.2 km west of the recreation site. The springs seep
from talus a short distance up a small side creek. Provincial government map 82K/SW shows the springs
at UTM grid reference 606633 and an elevation of 950m. Water temperatures are about 35 C.”

Here are the co-ordinates for this hot spring: N 50 32.822' W 114 53.498' Elevation 2321 m. I don't know if it has a name?? If you head into Kananaskis Country off the Trans Canada onto HWY 40, go all the way through the parks, it is past the Highwood Area gate, I think it was another 10-20 km?? you will see a huge grassy area on the left (east) side of the road, there is a dirt/grass road coming off the highway. You will see a marker where the path starts. When you head up the path it will fork, take the right hand path, then you will come onto an old logging road that is all overgrown, follow that, it will head off to your right. you will have to jump over a creek, keep heading along that road!!! it will take a while, and you will think that you have gone too far. The road is really overgrown at times. Then there is a blue marker on a tree, and a path that heads up off the road to your left. That path goes up through the forest, comes out into an opening and you go all the way up to the top between the 2 peeks. from there you can see the hot spring across from you on the rock mountain. it's way up above the tree line. so you have to go all the way down that mountain, and up the opposite side. it is shale for most of the way up and kinda sucks. but this way is better than cutting around the side of the mountains- believe me!!!!! i will add a coulple pictures. There are 2 small pools. decent temperature.

I feel I am breaking the code of campers if I don't tell you about an amazing hot spring that has three pools. If you know where Top of The World Provincial Park is...then try to find White Swan (hot springs).

You will travel about 11km East on a gravel logging road off the Hwy appx. 45min south of Invermere (sorry I can't recall which #). There is a little place to pull over, and then you walk down a traverse trail in between the mountains in a beautiful valley...arriving to a three-tiered hot spring with the top pool being the hottest, then two more getting cooler as you near the river at the end. I went there a few years ago and it was the most secluded non-tourist hot spring I'd ever been to.

The rocks behind the pools people have left candles in so you can see while you soak (if you go at night). It's truly spectacular and if you ever have a chance to go...DOOOO it!

Please keep it as beautiful as possible...

AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE IS ONLY ONE HOT SPRING IN THAT AREA. IT WAS INCORPORATED INTO WHITESWAN PARK A FEW YEARS AGO RESULTING IN SOME CONFUSION WITH THE NAME. THE CLOSEST SPRING TO THIS THAT I KNOW IS RAM CREEK WHICH IS ONE OR TWO MOUNTAINS TO THE SOUTH.

In the "Hotsprings of Western Canada" book there is mention of a Mutton Cr H/s also. North of Lussier H/s. They go on to say that it is possibly one and the same. Other mention of a H/s near Delphine cr and Jumbo creek.

I have also coordinates to a spring 22m West of the White Swan coords (White Swan N50 08.214 W115 34.713) that had the label of Lussier (Canal Flats N50 08.214 W115 34.731) So maybe they decided to call all of them Lussier, but I am thinking not as to the distance between all three.

Here are the co-ordinates for this hot spring: N 50 32.822' W 114 53.498' Elevation 2321 m. I don't know if it has a name??

If you head into Kananaskis Country off the Trans Canada onto HWY 40, go all the way through the parks, it is past the Highwood Area gate, I think it was another 10-20 km?? you will see a huge grassy area on the left (east) side of the road, there is a dirt/grass road coming off the highway. You will see a marker where the path starts.
When you head up the path it will fork, take the right hand path, then you will come onto an old logging road that is all overgrown, follow that, it will head off to your right. you will have to jump over a creek, keep heading along that road!!! it will take a while, and you will think that you have gone too far. The road is really overgrown at times. Then there is a blue marker on a tree, and a path that heads up off the road to your left. That path goes up through the forest, comes out into an opening and you go all the way up to the top between the 2 peeks. from there you can see the hot spring across from you on the rock mountain. it's way up above the tree line. so you have to go all the way down that mountain, and up the opposite side. it is shale for most of the way up and kinda sucks. but this way is better than cutting around the side of the mountains- believe me!!!!! i will add a coulple pictures.
There are 2 small pools. decent temperature.

For many years there have been rumours about hot springs at Mt. Ida, near Salmon Arm. There was even talk about a possible construction of a resort. Whether this mountain really was a volcano at some time is unclear. Regarding the possible existence of hot springs, there are a number of small ponds at Mt. Ida that have relatively warm water temperatures and it has been reported that some don't freeze over during winter. This cache is situated at one such pond. Access is via Shaw Road and there is a parking area under the big powerline at : N50° 39.208 W119° 13.061

GTL's Hot-Springs end is near! 2008 - 2010

The below message has been received by myself as the creator of GTL Hot-Springs. ( http://hotsprings-bc-canada.ning.com/ )

Due to the fact that I started this site as a free site on Ning and I have no desire to charge for the service GTL's Hot-Springs will be coming to an end soon. So if you want hot-spring maps and GPS lists come and download them before they are gone.

My thanks to all those members who contributed so much here. I have enjoyed every post and photo/video clip you have sent.

Thanks to all those members who joined and you will be missed.

So unless Ning.com changes their mind which I doubt the end will come to all my Ning sites. This is not a plea for support by any means. Just an anouncement of the end of an erra.

When I became CEO 30 days ago, I told you I would take a hard look at our business. This process has brought real clarity to what's working, what's not, and what we need to do now
to make Ning a big success.
My main conclusion is that we need to double down on our premium services
business. Our Premium Ning Networks like Friends or Enemies, Linkin
Park, Shred or Die, Pickens Plan, and tens of thousands of others both
drive 75% of our monthly US traffic, and those Network Creators need and
will pay for many more services and features from us.
So, we are going to change our strategy to
devote 100% of our resources to building the winning product to capture
this big opportunity. We will phase out our free service. Existing
free networks will have the opportunity to either convert to paying for
premium services, or transition off of Ning. We will judge ourselves by
our ability to enable and power Premium Ning Networks at huge scale.
And all of our product development capability will be devoted to making
paying Network Creators extremely happy.

My favourite rock to relax on in the sun while kayaking on Okanagan Lake's S/E shore. Thought I'd post a pic. This rock is like an island when the water is high. The water is 3 feet lower than usual. Dry winter this year.

Believe it or not, most all of these large stones in the water are usually covered with water and we paddle over most of them quite easily. Low water this year, not much snowfall last winter.

Three Mile Beach view on June-‎12-‎07.

Also knowen as 3-Mile Beach aka: Penticton's Nude Beach aka:Penticton's Naturist beach or Clothing Optional Beach.

Note only the N/E corner of the beach is the naturist beach.

Three Mile Clothing Optional Beach N49 32.268 W119 34.558 Easy access from Penticton's North end head toward Naramata and watch for Three Mile Beach Road. Head down the road park at the bottom and head to the right. The Naturist area is E/NE of the Willow tree It is quite large can't miss the tree. I usually kayak from Penticton to this beach. Takes about 40-45minutes on a good day (one way) Note the wind is almost always from the north on this edge of the lake. But late afternoon you might hav a strong South wind on a hot 35-40c day, so paddling might take a bit longer. One day it took me 2 hours to get back, toeing another kayak behind me. Going north to the beach speed was 6-8kmh returning that day my speed went from 6-0.1 kmh and was at a crawl. LOL had a great workout though. :) But normally almost always the wind is 99.9999999% from the north. Many paddle au'natural from just past the marina to the three mile beach & back. as well along this east edge are many little secluded beaches where people go au'natural as well. Have fun!

One other note.. The best sun here is from 11:00am - dusk.

My hope is that some of you will find this blog of some interest, my plan is to use this blog-site (Posterous) as my regular posting site in the future while I am on my kayaking/outdoor excursions. As you have seen by my test posts it appears this site will work well while I am mobile due to the ability Posterous has to post text, photos, videos etc. Simply and easily via mobile phone email. I also like the way Posterous echos my posts immediately after I make my posts to my other blogs, twitter, facebook, picasa, fliker etc.

I see there are lots of people clicking on the posts glad there are interested people out there. That's an encouragement!

A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address!

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day. The husband checked into the hotel.. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realising his error, sent the email. Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston , a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack. The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife

Subject: I've Arrived

Date: October 16, 2005

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in. I've seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.
