For many years there have been rumours about hot springs at Mt. Ida, near Salmon Arm. There was even talk about a possible construction of a resort. Whether this mountain really was a volcano at some time is unclear. Regarding the possible existence of hot springs, there are a number of small ponds at Mt. Ida that have relatively warm water temperatures and it has been reported that some don't freeze over during winter. This cache is situated at one such pond. Access is via Shaw Road and there is a parking area under the big powerline at : N50° 39.208 W119° 13.061
